You can also adjust the liftgate height, which is helpful for lower overhangs.

EcoBoost Engine
As the backbone of the ST, King Ranch® engine takes the athletic feel of Explorer a step further. By using turbocharging and direct injection, the Ford Explorer generates 400 hp and 415 lb.-ft of torque thanks to Ford Performance engine tuning.
Intelligent 4WD
The standard Terrain Management System™ can help you tackle your adventures. Available Intelligent 4WD comes with seven selectable drive modes, accessed through a single easy-to-use dial in the center console. Normal, Trail, Deep Snow/Sand, Slippery, Sport, Tow/Haul and Eco mode each come with 3D animated graphics in the available 12.3" digital productivity screen. Plus, Hill Descent Control™ helps control braking and speed on steep grades. And with Intelligent 4WD, there's also the added benefit of enhanced control on your daily commute, especially when conditions are rough.
RWD
The Ford Explorer comes with Rear-Wheel Drive to maximize performance and design. RWD architecture enables a sportier, more athletic design and improved on- and off-road capability when equipped with the Class IV trailer tow package.
Towing
Building on AdvanceTrac™ with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™), standard trailer sway control selectively brakes and adjusts engine power to maintain trailer control. The result is stability and control, even when towing large loads. The Class IV Trailer Tow Package is available with the 2.3L EcoBoost® engine and 3.3L hybrid engine and comes standard with the 3.0L EcoBoost® engine.
Active Park Assist
Available Active Park Assist 2.0 makes it easy to nail an impressive park, time after time - even in tight parallel or perpendicular spots. With the push of a button, this feature will detect an appropriate parking space and let you know when to stop and put the car in neutral. Once you're there, all you have to do is hold the Active Park Assist button for the duration of the park and the system does the rest. This feature also offers park out assist with side-sensing capability so you can confidently navigate out of a spot when someone's parked too close to you.
Post-Collision Braking
Post-Collision Braking, standard on all Explorer trim levels, can potentially lessen the severity of a secondary collision by automatically applying moderate brake pressure when an initial collision is detected in an attempt to slow down the vehicle and potentially lessen injuries to any passenger and damage to the vehicle.
Available Reverse Brake Assist
With increasing audio and visual warnings, Reverse Brake Assist helps alert you to any objects you might have missed while slowly backing up. The system can detect both stationary and moving objects, including people and vehicles behind you, and can even apply the brakes to help prevent a collision.
